Trash & Recovery
Deleted notes go to Trash where they’re kept for 30 days before permanent deletion.
How Trash Works
Section titled “How Trash Works”When you delete a note:
- It’s moved to Trash (not permanently deleted)
- It stays in Trash for 30 days (configurable)
- After 30 days, it’s permanently deleted
- You can restore any time before permanent deletion
Deleting Notes
Section titled “Deleting Notes”From the Sidebar
Section titled “From the Sidebar”- Open the note’s context menu
- Select Delete
- Note moves to Trash
From the Note
Section titled “From the Note”- Open the note
- Click the … menu
- Select Delete
Accessing Trash
Section titled “Accessing Trash”- Click the Trash icon in the sidebar, or
- Go to Settings > Trash
Viewing Trash Contents
Section titled “Viewing Trash Contents”The Trash shows:
- Note name
- Original location (group)
- Date deleted
- Days until permanent deletion
Restoring Notes
Section titled “Restoring Notes”Single Note
Section titled “Single Note”- Open Trash
- Find the note
- Click Restore
The note returns to its original location (or workspace root if the group was deleted).
Multiple Notes
Section titled “Multiple Notes”- Open Trash
- Select notes (checkboxes)
- Click Restore Selected
Permanent Deletion
Section titled “Permanent Deletion”Single Note
Section titled “Single Note”- Open Trash
- Find the note
- Click Delete Forever
- Confirm
Empty Trash
Section titled “Empty Trash”- Open Trash
- Click Empty Trash
- Confirm
Configuring Trash
Section titled “Configuring Trash”Auto-Delete Period
Section titled “Auto-Delete Period”Change how long deleted notes are kept:
- Go to Settings
- Find Trash Settings
- Set Auto-delete after (1-90 days, or never)
Disable Auto-Delete
Section titled “Disable Auto-Delete”Set the period to “Never” to keep deleted notes indefinitely (until manually removed).
Trash and Storage
Section titled “Trash and Storage”Notes in Trash still count toward your storage quota. Emptying Trash frees up space.
What Gets Trashed
Section titled “What Gets Trashed”- Notes: Yes, go to Trash
- Groups: Deleted immediately (but notes inside move to Trash)
- Todos: Removed with their parent note
Before Emptying Trash
Section titled “Before Emptying Trash”Review Trash contents before emptying. This is your last chance to recover.
Regular Cleanup
Section titled “Regular Cleanup”If you’re running low on storage, check Trash for notes you can permanently delete.
Accidental Deletion
Section titled “Accidental Deletion”Deleted something by mistake? Check Trash immediately—it’s there waiting.
